hi my name is joey and have some questions that i really would love the answer to.

first off , i am not a jw myself, im 15 and i really like this girl thats a jw.

we are currently sophmores and have a couple of classes together and i have grown attracted to her.

Someone posted a basic list of rules a while ago, and I forgot to save it. It would be very helpful in explaining JW stuff to other worldly people who are completely baffled. It included not celebrating birthdays, holidays, blood etc. If someone has the list, would they mind please posting it again. Thanks.

Hi Joey,

Welcome to the board. My daughter who is about your age has a JW boyfriend, and to be honest, it leads to a lot of confusion and heartache. This girl is being honest with you. Her life is very different than the average kid's life as her JW religion is more than a religion, it is a whole different culture. Even a very innocent relationship is forbidden to her until she is ready to marry. If she goes against her rules, her parents and the elders of her church can make her life very difficult.

Try instead, to just be a good friend to her. Be a good person so she realized others out in the world are good people, not the bad association as she has been taught. Encourage her to go to college.

Thank you, Jan. Yet another powerful TV show exposing the dark side of the WT. How I wish that I could just force some usually more reasonable witnesses to watch these shows. How can it be denied when it is happening and being exposed worldwide??? How long can the average witness, the ordinary person, keep their head in the sand and question nothing???? It just baffles me.

Non-JW and newbie to board w/ ?'s...

where do i begin...well first let me say that i have similar situations with others on this board because i am involved with someone who is a witness.

as i stated in my title, i am not.

i am also a newbie to this board, and i am curious as to know if there is anyone out there who was a non-jw who converted and is glad that they did so?

I can be of no help to you, whatsoever. I'm guessing that most people that were glad that they converted, if they post here, discovered their mistake later. I don't recall too many happy, contented JWs posting here.

Read and learn, and ask lots of questions, as there are lots of other people here that can explain the convolutions and difficulties of the JW religion.

Why does there have to be one right religion?

when it comes to cars, i tend to like toyota's.

when it comes to food, i like chinese and italian.

when it comes to vacations, i like the mountains or tropical beaches.

IF there was a god...and if this god was bigger and better than we are.....wouldn't this god want us, as human beings to learn to get along with each other and care for each other...no matter what the differences...wouldn't we all be part of his grand vision???....if there was a god.

Last night my dad tried to commit suicide

i'm still blown away by it.

when i went out the door this morning to take the kids to school (7:15 a.m.) i turned on my cell phone and there were two messages from his retirement home, both saying that he had fallen at about 4:30 a.m. and was being taken to the hospital.

i called the hospital and they told me that he said he had taken 18 xanax in an effort to kill himself.

I have no idea about his family, but I would guess that they are Jewish, too.
